HSBC Hong Kong Project 18 -  Promo Video
A series of animations to introduce the new banknote designs.

This year, HSBC HK has a ground-breaking redesign on the banknotes.
They are using new iconic key elements that feature different facets of life in Hong Kong and a vertical layout on the reverse side.
The security features are also upgraded with the latest technology.

In order to raise the public awareness of the launch and introduce the new features, the team has developed a series of animation features on the reveal, the design elements and the security features.
Each of them targets a specific social media platform, hence, the aspect ratio will be varied.

01.Banknote Reveal Animation
To recreate the signature watercolour style on the banknote, I redrew the key visual elements in photoshop and repaint them all with specific watercolour brushes.

Animation 1 - Banknotes Revealed
Watercolour graphics animation introducing the new banknotes design and the inspiration behind.
02. Design Elements Animation
For the second video, the main goal is high-light the visual elements on the banknote but avoid using what we have in the first video. I've found the inspiration from the patterns that are hidden on the banknote. These patterns later on were used as the main visuals.

03.Security Features Animation
Now come to the final video of the launching. This clip has to be informative yet clean and short enough to post online. We took the simple motion graphics approach with bright colour contast to make it stand out.
